Constraining alternatives to a cosmological constant: Generalized couplings and scale invariance

چکیده
We present a comparative analysis of observational low-redshift background constraints on three candidate models for explaining the acceleration universe. The generalized coupling model by Feng and Carloni scale invariant Maeder (both which can be interpreted as bimetric theories) are compared to traditional parametrization Chevallier, Polarski Linder. In principle model, in vacuum is equivalent General Relativity, contains two types energy: usual cosmological constant plus second contribution due matter fields. show that former necessary agree with observations, while there no statistically significant evidence presence second. On other hand effectively has time-dependent constant. this case we density Ω m ∼ 0 . 3 relatively poor fit data, best-fit would require fluid much smaller significantly positive equation state parameter.

Constraining the Cosmological Constant from Large-Scale Redshift-Space Clustering
We show how the cosmological constant can be estimated from redshift surveys at different redshifts, using maximum-likelihood techniques. The apparent redshift-space clustering on large scales ( > ∼ 20 h−1Mpc ) are affected in the radial direction by infall, and curvature influences the apparent correlations in the transverse direction. The relative strengths of the two effects will strongly va...
متن کاملString Scale Cosmological Constant
The cosmological constant is an unexplained until now phenomena of nature that requires an explanation through string effects. The apparent discrepancy between theory and experiment is enourmous and has already been explained several times by the author including mechanisms. In this work the string theory theory of abolished string modes is documented and given perturbatively to all loop orders...
متن کاملParameter extraction by Planck for a CDM model with broken scale invariance and cosmological constant
We consider a class of spatially flat cold dark matter (CDM) models, with a cosmological constant and a broken-scale-invariant (BSI) steplike primordial spectrum of adiabatic perturbations, previously found to be in very good agreement with observations. Performing a Fisher matrix analysis, we show that in case of a large gravitational waves (GW) contribution some free parameters (defining the ...
متن کاملA Strategy for a Vanishing Cosmological Constant in the Presence of Scale Invariance Breaking
Recent work has shown that complex quantum field theory emerges as a statistical mechanical approximation to an underlying noncommutative operator dynamics based on a total trace action. In this dynamics, scale invariance of the trace action becomes the statement 0 = ReTrT μ μ , with Tμν the operator stress energy tensor, and with Tr the trace over the underlying Hilbert space. We show that thi...
متن کاملScale of gravity and the cosmological constant within a landscape
It is possible that the scale of gravity, parametrized by the apparent Planck mass, may obtain different values within different universes in an encompassing multiverse. We investigate the range over which the Planck mass may scan while still satisfying anthropic constraints. The window for anthropically allowed values of the Planck mass may have important consequences for landscape predictions...
